Sony is trying to make a splash into the high-end smartphone market with the release of the Xperia Z3. The phone made its debut in Berlin earlier this month, and has now been introduced in Taiwan. It is expected to be introduced in India today.
Customers in the UK and Germany can pre-order the device through the online store.
In Taiwan, Sony officials hope the new phone makes the company a strong competitor in the high-end Android market.
The XPeria Z3 is priced at just under $700, and is available through five Sony Stores in Taiwan, as well as the company’s website. Taiwan was one of the first countries to receive this phone because Taiwanese regulators were able to speed up the certification process.
The Z3 comes complete with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S801 2.5 GHz quad-core processor, a 5.2″ 1080p display, 20.7MP camera and 4G capabilities. The phone is compatible with existing 4G operators in Taiwan—Taiwan Mobile Co., Chunghwa Telecom Co., Far EasTone Telecommunications Co. and Taiwan Star Telecom Corp.
