The Chinese manufacturer Oppo recently revealed what is now considered the thinnest smartphone in the world, a full two millimeters thinner than the iPhone 6.
The Oppo R5 is only 4.85mm thick, compared to the iPhone 6 at 6.9mm. It’s so thin it cannot support a standard-sized headphone jack. The phone comes with an adapter for headphones to accommodate the tiny frame.
The phone’s lack of thickness does not equate to a lack of features. The Oppo R5 has the same hardware you’d expect to see in other phones, like 2GB of memory, a 5.2-inch 1080p screen, and a 1.5GHz octa-core processor. “Octa-core” processors are fairly new to the market, and they feature eight different sections to handle separate tasks individually. This makes the phone ideal for multitasking.
The R5 comes with a large battery that will last even longer than the one in the iPhone 6: 2,000 mAh and 1,810 mAh, respectively. The phone also comes with a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera.
The new smartphone from Oppo is scheduled to be released next month at a price of $499.
