The OSOMBOX Helps Fight Cell Phone Addiction

Family looking at their smartphones at the dinner table

A new Kickstarter campaign aims to fight smartphone addiction through a simple leather-bound box. The OSOMBOX (pronounced “awesome box”) is based on the age-old adage: “Out of Sight, Out of Mind.”

By providing people with a place to put their phones during family gatherings and playtime, the box allows smartphone addicts to disconnect from their beloved devices.

Why would you want to pay money for a box when you could just put your phone in a drawer or in another room? Because the OSOMBOX is specifically designed for this purpose. If you wanted to conquer your addiction, you could have easily done one of those things a long time ago—but you didn’t. The OSOMBOX may push you in the right direction to step away from your mobile device.

The box is designed to hold up to seven smartphones of varying sizes, and is lined with a soft insulating material to mask the sound of alerts as well as protect the phone. The sleek, simple design is visually appealing, and it comes with a hole in the back for a charging cable so phones can be recharged while they are out of sight.

OSOMBOX may not be a million dollar idea, but there is definitely some merit to it. The box is now available for preorder on Kickstarter or on the OSOMBOX website, with delivery estimated for July of this year.
