Fans of the iPhone lens add-on OlloClip will soon have a new way to incorporate their photo enhancers on their phones. The company has revealed a special project, known as the OlloCase, which provides an iPhone case that specifically ties into the “4-in-1” lens.
The OlloClip is a lens that fits tightly on the top of an iPhone to enhance the camera’s functionality. The lens allows the camera to capture images from fisheye and wide-angle perspectives, and also provides for 10x and 15x macro-photography. Due to the way the OlloClip sits on a phone, it is not currently compatible with any smartphone case on the market, putting users at risk of damaging their devices if they are accidentally dropped or scraped. So the company developed its own case.
With the new OlloCase, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users will be able to add their OlloClips to their phones while still protecting their device from outside harm. The case is available for pre-order for $29.99 on the company’s website, with no release date scheduled.
Smartphone cameras are transforming the way people capture memories in the modern world, making products like the OlloClip all the more desirable. In 2012, a study from Mintel revealed a 29% decline in digital camera sales from 2006 to 2011, with a further drop of 38% predicted by 2016. Last year, Stellar Magazine shot an entire editorial spread using a Samsung Galaxy Alpha phone. As more consumers continue to turn to their phones for photography, add-ons like OlloClip are sure to be in greater demand.
