In an effort to promote its new app, Burger King is giving away free Android smartphones. These are actual phones linked to actual phone plans, but this offer comes with a catch.
In order to get the phone, you have to sign up for a two-year contract with Verizon, AT&T or Sprint. You will still have to pay for a traditional phone bill just like you would if you signed up directly through the company, and you’re still subject to credit checks and other application standards the companies require.
If you have been looking to sign up for cell phone service, this offer could potentially get you a decent phone with no money upfront. You can choose from phones like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, Motorola’s Moto X, and then some lesser known phones like the Casio G’zOne Commando. You might be able to get these same phones or better ones directly through the service provider, depending on what promotions are going on right now.
Is the Burger King promotion worth looking into? Only if you were in the market for a new smartphone and are willing to sign a two-year contract. Otherwise, you may be better off sticking with what you have and just downloading Burger King’s free app.
