Apple iPhone 5S Still Top Selling Smartphone

Ostersund, Sweden - December 12, 2012: iPhone 5 isolated on whit

For the sixth consecutive month, the Apple iPhone 5S is the best selling smartphone in the world, according to a survey conducted by Counterpoint Technology.

The worldwide survey determines the top ten selling smartphones. Apple’s iPhone 5C phone came in at #2 and the company’s 4S phone was #5.

Samsung’s performance in the survey was also quite impressive, with five of their phones being ranked in the Top 10. Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, had two of its newest devices make the list.

The survey was conducted in February, but the results were not published until April.

“We expect some changes in March and April as the new (Samsung) Galaxy S5 becomes available and the iPhone 5C discounts have ceased,” said Counterpoint’s Research Director Tom Kang said. “We are also seeing good performances from the Motorola G and Huawei LTE models so there might be some volatility in the best seller’s list.”

Despite the anticipated excitement over the new Samsung smartphone, Apple is still expected to perform well, especially with an iPhone 6 expected to hit the market later this year.
