New App Allows Users to Try Beauty Products

YouCam Makeup is a new app that allows users to try beauty products before they purchase them.

To use the app, a person takes a picture of their face. They can then choose whichever products they like. The filters show the user what the make-up will look like on them, which will help consumers make more informed cosmetic decisions. If the user finds something they like, they can purchase products directly from the app.

Perfect Corp., the maker of YouCam Makeup, and Intage conducted a study to see how users reacted to augmented reality (AR) beauty shopping, and they found younger shoppers are responding positively. Key findings of their research include:

  • YouCam Makeup users are 1.6 times more likely to purchase a cosmetic product than women who do not, and users spend 2.7 times more than others.
  • The AR try-ons, on average, double cosmetic sales, and for some brands, drove up to 6 times more sales.
  • Younger adults are more likely to use AR to make beauty product decisions. Gen Z users are 10 times more likely to make purchase decisions after using YouCam, and Millennials are twice as likely.

“We are thrilled to learn that YouCam Makeup encourages customers to make more informed purchasing decisions through AR try-ons,” says Perfect Corp. CEO Alice Chang. “Our team continues to develop the complete beauty journey for all aspects of the beauty market, allowing YouCam users to discover, try, share, and buy beauty products in one seamless platform.”

The YouCam Makeup app is available for Apple and Android devices.
